Man Arraigned Over Murder Of 14-year-Old Nigerian Boy In The UK

A Spanish-Brazilian national, Marcus Aurelio Monzo, has been arraigned before a UK court for the murder of 14-year-old Nigerian boy, Daniel Anjorin in a sword attack that took place in London.

According to Sky News, Monzo who resides in Newham, East London, has been charged with a series of offences.

These charges include two counts of attempted murder, two counts of grievous bodily harm, aggravated burglary, and possession of a bladed article, the police announced on Wednesday.

Four people were injured, including two Metropolitan Police officers during the attack that took place on Tuesday.

Monzo, aged 36, made an appearance at Westminster Magistrates’ Court on Thursday and was subsequently remanded in custody Thursday morning.

The defendant was ordered to remain in custody until his appearance at the Old Bailey, scheduled for Tuesday unless a hearing can be arranged on Friday.

Daniel Anjorin was a pupil at Bancroft’s private school in Woodford Green, which is also the same school attended by Nottingham knife-attack victim Grace O’Malley-Kumar.

Daniel was “a wonderful child,” “well-loved,” and “hard-working,” according to his family, who told Sky News that his passing “leaves a gaping wound in the family.”

They said, “No family should have to go through what we are experiencing.

“Any family will understand it’s an absolute tragedy.”

According to a report from the BBC, a fundraising page was created by a friend of Daniel’s brother on Wednesday and has already managed to raise £25,000.

Daniel’s death has sparked renewed discussions about the ongoing issue of knife crime in the UK, particularly in London.
