Colonial Mentality: Shehu Sani Slams Homeage To Prince Harry, Meghan By Nigerian Officials
Former lawmaker Senator Shehu Sani has criticized the visit of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle to Nigeria, pointing out perceived flaws in their actions.
Many people support Sani’s stance, highlighting concerns about the historical colonial process in Nigeria and suggesting that the visit may perpetuate colonial subjugation.
Sani expressed disapproval of the protocol displayed during the visit, denouncing it as “obsequiousness and colonial mentality,” which he found utterly distasteful.
Despite his criticism, Sani acknowledged his admiration for Harry and Meghan’s rebellious attitude and appreciated their decision to visit Nigeria.
The lawmaker’s comments reflect a broader sentiment among some Nigerians who are wary of actions that might reinforce colonial dynamics and undermine the country’s sovereignty.
He said: “I like Harry and Meghan because of their rebellious attitude and I appreciate their visit to my country; but the obsequiousness and colonial mentality displayed by the protocol of their visit is utterly disgusting. I hope when the elder brother comes, our officials will not carry him on their shoulders.”
GWG.ng had reported that Harry and Markle arrived in Nigeria for their 72-hour tour on Friday.
This is marks the first time Harry and Meghan are visiting Nigeria together.

@June12Post: They are already constructing a stretcher- the brother would sit on, while 4 muscular men carry him on their shoulders at the 4 different points.. #Damn
@Northerner0: We’re behaving like we are not an independent country. 🤦🏾♂️
@skyedron: What did you think made them leave power in the hands of the northerners and not the objecting southerners.
The British knew what they were doing.if not for the new generation, the British would have sold this country to the highest bidder without objection.
Spoils of war
Yummy!
@iagharanya: What is the economic benefit of their visit?
@Peace_Beauty1: Why all the fanfares and stress over them? I just don’t get it.
@OkoliStephenIz3: Remembering what their ancestors put us through let me reserve to say whats on my mind
@vitoclemzy: I appreciate Harry and Meghan’s visit to Nigeria. It’s unfortunate that the protocol displayed during their visit reflects colonial mentality. Hopefully, future visits will be more respectful and reflective of modern values.” them no be “gods” biko
@Ozongodogo: Even Buckingham Palace will be shocked at the lavish reception they are receiving in Nigeria. It is a reception only fit for a King and a Queen. Head or tail, Britain wins. It is the British hegemony that is being promoted.
