AMVCA 2024: Full List of Winners Announced!

The African Magic Viewers Choice Awards (AMVCA) 2024 took place on Saturday, May 11, at the Eko Hotel in Lagos, bringing together the crème de la crème of African film and television. The night was filled with excitement as winners were announced in various categories.

Prime Video’s original production, “Breath of Life,” emerged as the biggest winner of the night, taking home five awards, including Best Lead Actor, Best Supporting Actress, Best Supporting Actor, Best Director, and Best Movie.

Other notable winners include Chimezie Imo, who received the Trailblazer Award, and Idowu Phillips (Iya Rainbow) and Richard Mode-Damijo (RMD), who were honored with the Industry Merit Award (Female and Male categories, respectively).

  • Best Indigenous Language Film (East Africa): “Ormoilaa Ogol (The Strong One)”
  • Best Indigenous Language Film (South Africa): “Service To Heart”
  • Best Documentary: “Lobola, A Bride’s True Price?”
  • Best Cinematography: KC Obiajulu (“Over The Bridge”)
  • Best Indigenous M-Net Original: “Iya – Winner”
  • Best Digital Content: Isaac Ayomide Olayiwola (Layi Wasabi)
  • Best Short Film: “Broken Mask”
  • Best Unscripted M-Net Original: “Nwuyee Bekee (Foreign Wives)”
  • Best Scripted M-Net Original: “Slum King”
  • Best Supporting Actress: Genoveva Umeh (“Breath of Life”)
  • Best Supporting Actor: Demola Adedoyin (“Breath of Life”)
