How Wife Prayed WWE Superstar, ‘Undertaker’ To Jesus (Video)
The conversion testimony of WWE superstar “The Undertaker” who has been entertaining audiences for years as the ‘bad guy’ of wrestling, has been a compelling proof that there is no one too difficult for Jesus to save.
In a compelling interview with Pastor Ed Young, ‘the Undertaker’ shared his moving testimony of God’s redemption.
The Undertaker’s real name is Mark Calaway and throughout his career, he lived a life that mirrored the character he portrayed on TV.
“I wasn’t living my life for God,” he said at the C3 Christian Conference during a sit-down with Pastor Ed Young.
He spoke about his path back to the Lord Jesus that was possible through his wife, Michelle McCool who was also a professional wrestler like him.
The Undertaker revealed that he was raised in a Catholic household but never felt like a religious person. “I’ve always believed in God. I just didn’t lead my life that way. … I lived a pretty excessive lifestyle, and I didn’t have a, you know, I believed in God but I wasn’t living my life for God,” he said.

But that was exactly why God placed Michelle McCool in his life at that time to fulfill the purpose of God in His life. He said she started badgering him to attend Lake Hills Church, in Austin, Texas. The very thought of entering church made him feel, “I’m going to go in there and the rafters are going to start shaking.”
While talking about the existence of God, he said he believed in the existence of God and was fine with it but when it came to being committed to Him, he thought, “it’s not going to work.” He was also worried that the preacher would pass judgment on him because of his WWE character. “I was thinking, ‘OK, all right, the pastor’s going to see me and he’s going to throw fire and brimstone right at me’ — ‘Sinner! Sinner!’ — and it wasn’t nothing like that,” Calaway said.
But it didn’t turn out as he thought and he said, “I found myself from being kind of tense and pensive to kind of leaning in and like, ‘Wow, this is, you know, this is, this is pretty cool. This is, yeah.’ And that started my journey back to leading my life the way I should,” he added. Although Calaway was brought up in a Catholic family he said he wasn’t able to quote any Scripture on that first day.
He credits his wife for the transformation his life went through at church and after experiencing this new life he said that there was “a whole other part of life” that he was “missing out on.” But he is still a work in progress and acknowledges during the interview that he is far from being perfect. “I’m getting there, but I spend, you know, I spend a lot more time these days reading my Bible,” he said.
During the WWE Hall of Fame induction speech, Calaway opened up about his relationship with Jesus and how his wife helped him to strengthen his faith in God.
‘I think the greatest thing that you’ve ever done for me, though, is restore my relationship with my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ,’ he said.
