25-Year-Old Man Arrested For Allegedly Killing Girlfriend In Uyo

A 25-year-old man named Elisha has allegedly killed his girlfriend in Uyo, the capital of Akwa Ibom State.

The incident occurred on Tuesday, May 14, 2024, around 7:00 am at the suspect’s residence near Beulah International Nursery and Primary Schools on Atiku Abubakar Way.

The motive behind the murder remains unclear at this time. When correspondents arrived at the scene, a crowd of residents had gathered, blocking the double lanes and causing a traffic jam.

The victim’s body and the suspected killer had already been transported to the police headquarters at Ikot Akpan Abia. Armed policemen were present, attempting to manage the situation.

A source, who requested anonymity, reported that the incident took place when the suspect brought his girlfriend, a nurse, to his home. Shortly after they entered the room, neighbors heard the suspect assaulting his girlfriend.

According to her, “An aged woman in the compound on hearing the shouts went and advised the boy to stop the beating but he refused. Since we couldn’t do anything, we called the father who lived away from the area to come and control the situation.

“The boy, on sighting the father in the compound, jammed the door against them and they raised the alarm to invite other people for rescue.

“Before others could arrive the compound, the boy had already killed the girl and shredded her into pieces and went into hiding in the ceiling of the room, where the police came to bring him down for arrest.”

Meanwhile, the Police Public Relations Officer, ASP Timfon John, confirmed the incident, stating that the police have arrested the suspect, who is currently undergoing interrogation and investigation.
