Rivers: Three More Wike Loyalists Quit As Fubara Loses Five Commissioners In One Day
Three more Rivers State commissioners, loyal to Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Nyesom Wike, have resigned from the State Executive Council bringing to five, the number of commissioners who have resigned on account of the political conflict between the governor and his predecessor.
Commissioner for Social Welfare Inime Aguma, Commissioner for Transport Jacobson Nbina and the Commissioner for Environment, Austen Ben-Chioma are among the latest loysalits of Wike to quit the cabinet following the falling out of Governor Fubara and his predecessor.
GWG.ng reports that the trio submitted their resignation letters to Governor Siminalayi Fubara through the Office of the Secretary to the Rivers State Government.
Their resignations add to the five commissioners who have already announced their departure from the government amidst the ongoing political crisis in the state.
GWG.ng had earlier reported that the Commissioner for Education, Professor Prince Chinedu Mmom and the Commissioner for Housing, Gift Worlu submitted thier resignations to the Secretary to the State Government citing among others a toxic work environment that forbids them from working effectively.
With the five commissioners having resigned on account of the WIke, Fubara disagreement, stakeholders in Rivers Sate are watching out for the intention of the other members of the cabinet most of whom were nominated by Wike or if the resignation gale will also include other political appointees.
