On Thursday, the Oyo State Police Command paraded Lamidi Mukaila, also known as Auxiliary, the former chairman of the state’s Park Management System (PMS). He was arrested for alleged involvement in armed robbery, kidnapping, and murder.

Auxiliary had been declared wanted months ago due to his suspected involvement in a series of crimes across the state.

He was apprehended a few days ago by the Department of State Services (DSS) at his residence in the Olodo area of Ibadan, the Oyo State capital.

During a press briefing at the Command’s headquarters in the Eleyele area of Ibadan, the state’s Commissioner of Police, Adebola Hamzat, stated that Auxiliary would be charged in court for the alleged offenses.

Items recovered from his Diamond Hotel residence in the Alakia-Isebo Egbeda area included one AK-47 rifle, four AK-47 magazines, 84 live AK-47 ammunition rounds, 19 pump-action rifles, one Beretta pistol, seven cut-to-size guns, and one English-made barrel gun.

Additional items seized were 724 live cartridges, 25 cutlasses, seven jack knives, 33 mobile phones, one Samsung laptop, charms, one Mazda bus, one Toyota Sienna, and a cash sum of N3,450,000.00.

”In furtherance of these, discreet intelligence-led search commenced for the sacked PMS chieftain with the help of technology, collaborative efforts with sister services and community policing, many locations were identified, traced and combed for months until his recent arrest in a concerted effort with our sister services.

“Moving forward, the suspect would be charged to court for offences committed.

“While the Command is thanking the public for providing credible information to curb crime, it has become imperative to affirm to the general public about our resolve to deal decisively with any criminally motivated individual or group who intends to flip the state retrogressively into the historical dark ages of the “Wild West.

“If you see something, say something and the Police will immediately do something,” he said.
