Former PMS Chairman ‘Auxiliary’ Remanded For Alleged Murder
The Iyaganku Chief Magistrates’ Court has ordered the remand of Mukaila Lamidi, also known as Auxiliary, the former chairman of the Park Management System in the state.
Chief Magistrate Olabisi Ogunkanmi issued the order on Thursday, directing Lamidi’s remand at the Agodi Correctional Centre on charges of alleged murder. The decision stemmed from the court’s acknowledgment of a lack of jurisdiction over the case.
GWG.ng reported that the suspect had earlier been paraded by the Oyo State Police Command on Thursday morning.
The suspect, previously wanted by the police, was apprehended by men of the Department of State Service (DSS) a few days ago.
During the proceedings, Ogunkanmi noted that the remand was pending legal advice from the state Director of Public Prosecution.
Consequently, she adjourned the matter until July 11 for mention.
Lamidi, represented by Tope Olayinka, faced a four-count charge including conspiracy, causing death, and theft.
CSP Funke Fawole, the Officer-in-Charge of the Legal Department at the Police Command, informed the court that Lamidi and accomplices, still at large, allegedly conspired to commit the offenses.
Fawole stated that the crimes occurred at the Baba-Onilu Shopping Complex, Iwo Road, Ibadan, contravening Sections 383 and 316 of the Criminal Code Laws of Oyo State 2000.
Fawole emphasized that the offenses are punishable under various sections of the Criminal Code Laws of Oyo State 2000, including Sections 319, 111, 390 (9), 324, and 516.
Fawole said: “On June 16, 2021, at about 3:30 pm, Lamidi and others now at large allegedly caused the death of one Azeez Rahman Abiodun, 36, by stabbing him with a knife in the chest.
“On June 16, 2021, the defendant and others allegedly conspired and stole assorted phones valued at N150 million, property of Azeez Hammed Adebayo.”
