Announcing Mokhber’s take over in a statement on X, Khamenei said: “In accordance with article 131 of the constitution, Mokhber is in charge of leading the executive branch.

” He added that Mokhber, 68, will be required to work with the heads of legislative and judicial to prepare for presidential elections “within a maximum period of 50 days”.

The nation’s supreme leader also declared a period of 5 days national mourning for the deceased president.
