The influential National Vice-Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP in the South-South, Chief Dan Orbih has further baffled political actors in Edo State over his stance on the forthcoming governorship election.

Orbih who is the leader of the Legacy PDP, the section of the party opposed to the actions of Governor Godwin Obaseki in Edo State has openly come out to challenge the process that threw up Asue Ighodalo as the governorship candidate of the party.

GWG.ng reports that Ighodalo is generally believed to have been inspired by Obaseki in his aspiration and according to the Legacy Group won the ticket under unfair means.

Following what Orbih’s allies in the Legacy Group believe as the unfair emergence of Ighodalo as the Edo PDP candidate, several prominent PDP chiefs have recently resigned from the party leading to ominious fears for the PDP in the forthcoming election.

Orbih who acted as campaign manager for Obaseki in the 2020 governorship election has been hesitant on his inclinations in the forthcoming election despite insisting that he would not support Ighodalo on the basis of the fact that he was produced by Obaseki among other reasons.

Asked if he would back the APC candidate, Senator Monday Okpebholo in order to teach Obaseki a lesson, Orbih said:

“It is not about teaching Obaseki a lesson,” Orbih said.

“I don’t know if Obaseki is a student in any school. My interest is to support who will be good for the development and progress of Edo state. God will direct,” Orbih said of his inclination ahead of the election.
