The Edo State Police Command has arrested Etinosa Aiguokun, a 32-year-old man, for allegedly killing his 74-year-old father, Pa Aiguokun, and his wife, Mrs. Roseline, using a pestle.

GWG.ng gathered that the incident happened last Wednesday at Evbomore community in Ovia North-East Local Government Area of the State during a disagreement, which led to a physical attack.

During the physical altercation, the suspect allegedly ran into the kitchen, grabbed a pestle, and smashed his 74-year-old father’s head in the sitting room.

His stepmother, who rushed to the scene after hearing her husband scream, was also struck. Both victims reportedly died instantly.

The suspect then dragged their bodies to the back of the house, dumping them near a soakaway and covering them with weeds. He cleaned up the blood stains and remained in the house.

A community source, speaking anonymously, revealed that the suspect took his late father’s mobile phone and sold it for N25,000 at Kings Square in Benin City.

When the other children of the deceased returned home, they began searching for their parents, unaware that their brother had killed them.

The suspect even joined in the search for their missing parents. When the children couldn’t find their parents, they reported them missing to the Ugbowo Division of the Nigeria Police Force.

Upon investigation, the bodies were discovered at the house, and the suspect confessed to the killings. He was arrested on the spot, unable to provide a genuine reason for his actions.

Edo State Police Public Relations Officer, Chidi Nwabuzor, confirmed the incident and stated that the suspect is undergoing interrogation to determine the motive behind the crime.

The suspect has been transferred to the Homicide Department for further investigation. The bodies have been sent to the mortuary for autopsy and additional investigations.
