A prominent social media doctor, Aproko Doctor, has joined NAFDAC to sound the alarm about the dangers of using Carowhite, a widely used bleaching cream. He urged users to discontinue use and return the product, citing its excessive concentration of kojic acid, which can lead to hormonal imbalances, illnesses, and unpleasant skin color changes.

According to Aproko Doctor, the recommended dosage of kojic acid in creams is 1%, but Carowhite contains significantly more, posing a risk to users’ health. He emphasized the importance of avoiding this product to prevent potential harm.

Corroborating Apoko Doctor’s warning on the bleaching cream, the National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC) recently posted a notification on their official social media handle, alerting the public to the European Union’s recall of Caro White Skin Lightening Beauty Lotion. The EU’s Rapid Alert System for Dangerous Non-Food Products (RAPEX) and the Scientific Committee on Consumer Safety (SCCS) have deemed the product non-compliant with cosmetic regulations due to its high concentration of kojic acid.

Users are advised to take immediate action and discontinue use of Carowhite to ensure their safety and well-being.
