Lagos Building Collapse: Fears For Trapped Victims As Rescue Efforts Intensify (Photos)
A two-storey building collapsed on Thursday, in the heart of Lagos Island sparking fears of trapped individuals.
The incident occurred at No. 15, Iga Iduganran, close to the Oba of Lagos’s palace.
Dr. Femi Oke-Osanyintolu, the Permanent Secretary of the Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA), said the agency has mobilized an elite team from its headquarters for rescue operations.
Despite limited details, Nosa Okunbor, the agency’s media head, confirmed Oke-Osanyintolu’s active supervision and coordination of search and rescue efforts at the collapse site.
“PS LASEMA, Dr. Olufemi Damilola Oke-Osanyintolu, has rolled out with the elite team from LASEMA HQ, Command and Control Centre, to Supervise and Coordinate the Search and Rescue Operations at the scene of collpsed building that occurred at 15, Iga idungaran, close to Oba’s palace, Lagos Island,” he said.
Reportedly, individuals remain trapped within the debris of the collapsed structure.
