Outrage as AGF Declares Strike Illegal

Outrage has been stirred on social media after the Attorney General of the Federation (AGF) and Minister of Justice, Lateef Fagbemi (SAN) warned workers planning to embark on the indefinite strike declared by Labour unions, that they risk going to jail for six months.

GWG.ng reports that the AGF gave the warning in a statement on Sunday to dissuade workers from the strike action.

According to him, Section 18 of the Trade Disputes Act requires a worker employed in any essential services to give their employer 15 days’ notice before ceasing their services. Any who did not comply would be liable on conviction to a fine or imprisonment for six months.”
