Why Kaduna Lawmakers Want EFCC To Pick El-Rufai

In a significant development, the Kaduna State House of Assembly has recommended that former Governor Nasir El-Rufai face prosecution for alleged abuse of office and money laundering during his administration.

The recommendation follows an investigation by an ad-hoc committee led by Henry Zacharia, which uncovered irregularities in loan procurement and utilization.

According to the committee’s report, submitted on Wednesday, many loans obtained under El-Rufai’s administration were not used for their intended purposes, and due process was often disregarded in securing these loans.

The committee has called for the investigation and prosecution of El-Rufai and other indicted members of his cabinet by security and anti-corruption agencies.

The allegations include abuse of office through the award of contracts without due process, diversion of public funds, and money laundering. This development marks a significant turning point in the state’s efforts to promote transparency and accountability in governance.

As the story continues to unfold, it remains to be seen what actions will be taken next.
