Ndigbo Drag Cubana Chief Priest Over BBC Interview

Celebrity barman and socialite Pascal Okechukwu, popularly known as Cubana Chief Priest, has come under heavy fire by a large section of the Igbo after he revealed that the insecurity in the Southeast forced him to relocate his business to Lagos State, in an interview with BBC Igbo.

The socialite lamented that the fear of kidnapping and killing had driven away customers from the East, who previously visited home regularly.

He said: “There is widespread hunger in the South-East. It is our own community members who provide criminals with information.

“Our people began targeting the wealthy, so the wealthy stopped returning home during festivities. That’s why I moved to Lagos to conduct my business.”

Cubana’s comment quickly stirred an outrage from a large section of the Igbo on social media. See some comments gathered by GWG.ng from netizens on X:

“What Cubana Chief Priest said shows that he is a bad man and we know it and he will definitely have many spiritual and physical battles to contend with including his case with government. It is very obvious that the government is affiliated with the BBC, which is known as the most corrupt and fake media organization. 

“They purposely chose Cubana Chief Priest as a tool to lie to the world about what is happening in Igbo land. Whatever that is happening in Igbo land is politically influenced and government can stop it under hours but they choose not. Cubana is used and he will be dumped soon after use. Too bad.”
