A viral video showing EFCC officials storming Annex and Regional hotels in Isashi, Ojo, Lagos, has sparked outrage and raised questions about their conduct and the legality of the raid.

GWG.ng reported the dramatic operation, which occurred early on Thursday morning, involved officials forcibly entering rooms, assaulting guests and staff, and supposedly stealing personal belongings. The incident was further marred by sporadic gunfire, leaving several innocent customers injured, and multiple arrests.

In the aftermath of the raid, a contentious issue has emerged regarding the presence of a CCTV camera in the hotel room. Social media has been abuzz with debate questioning why a hotel room would be equipped with a CCTV camera.

However, clarification has come from netizens who frequent the hotel, explaining that the room in question belongs to the manager and doubles as the hotel’s reception area.

According to a netizen, “That’s the manager’s room. This has been addressed already. If you’ve been to Regional, you’d know that where the manager sleeps also serves as the reception. Cameras are installed there to prevent misappropriation and unruly behavior.”

This revelation has shed light on the context surrounding the CCTV camera, but the controversy surrounding the EFCC’s actions persists. The heavy-handed tactics employed by the officials have sparked widespread condemnation, with many calling for an investigation into their conduct. As the situation continues to unfold, the public eagerly awaits a response from the authorities and EFCC leadership regarding this disturbing incident which the the EFCC boss has reportedly ordered the arrest of those involved.
