VeryDarkMan Arrested Again, Days After Release from Prison
Controversial social media critic, Martins Vincent Otse, popularly known as VeryDarkMan, has been arrested once more by the Nigeria Police Force, just days after his release from prison. According to activist lawyer Deji Adeyanju, VeryDarkMan was taken into custody on the orders of the Police Commissioner of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Command, Igwe.
Adeyanju revealed that the arrest was made due to allegations of defamation, stemming from VeryDarkMan’s exposure of a Nigerian accused of fraud abroad. In a post on X, the lawyer expressed concern that the police prioritized arresting VeryDarkMan over pursuing the individual accused of fraud.
“This is a clear case of misdirected priorities,” Adeyanju stated. “Instead of arresting the person alleged to have duped someone, the police arrested VeryDarkMan on allegations of defamation.”

VeryDarkMan had previously spent weeks in prison on charges of cyberbullying, and his latest arrest has sparked concerns about freedom of speech and the role of law enforcement in Nigeria.
