Miniskirt Dispute Turns Deadly As Pregnant Nigerian Woman Kills Husband

A disagreement over a miniskirt between a husband and his wife has led to the husband’s tragic death.

The incident occurred when Patrick John came home one evening from a local bar and found his pregnant wife wearing a miniskirt, a garment he had repeatedly asked her not to wear.

The conflict escalated quickly, resulting in a fatal outcome.

The couple, who resided in Faram Faram village in the Fufore Local Government Area, Adamawa State had previously faced tensions over the wife’s choice of clothing, but this particular incident ended in heartbreak.

GWG.ng gathered on Monday that during a scuffle on June 13, 2024, the man challenged his wife over the miniskirt, allegedly holding her by the neck, prompting the wife to struggle and cry out.

Neighbors, alarmed by the commotion, intervened and managed to separate the quarreling couple. However, the man, Patrick John, left the scene only to return later and continue his assault on his wife, Maryam.

In the heat of the moment, Maryam grabbed a hoe and struck her husband on the forehead. This blow led to Patrick being rushed to the hospital, where he eventually succumbed to his injuries.

Maryam was subsequently arraigned in court, where she pleaded self-defense. At the Chief Magistrate Court 2 in Yola, presided over by Magistrate Musa Alhaji Adamu, Maryam explained that her actions were a spontaneous attempt to protect herself.

The judge ordered Maryam’s remand after her guilty plea to the charge of culpable homicide and scheduled the next hearing for July 10, 2024.
