Abuja hotel building collapse

Fear gripped staff and customers of the Westbrook Hotel in the Garki area of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Abuja, when a four-storey building attached to the hotel collapsed on Monday night, causing many casualties.

It was learnt that the Westbrook Hotel is owned by a former governor of a state in the South East.

A video obtained by GWG.ng captured rubbles from the tragic building collapse.

An eyewitness, who informed PUNCH Online of the incident on condition of anonymity, said there could be a “possibility” of casualties as he saw two trapped persons being pulled out from the rubble and taken to the hospital.

GWG.ng reports that the two political leaders of the FCT, the minister of the FCT Barrister Nyesom Wike and the senator representing the territory were yet to show presence at the site of collapsed Abuja hotel building. Both political actors had earlier on Monday exchanged barbs drawing condemnations and kicks from stakeholders.
