Super Eagles Secure Top Seed In 2025 Africa Cup Of Nations Draw

Nigeria’s national football team, the Super Eagles, have received a significant boost ahead of the Africa Cup of Nations, 2025 draws set to be held in Johannesburg, South Africa on Thursday.
The Confederation of African Football (CAF) announced on Wednesday that the Super Eagles have been placed in Pot 1, alongside other top-ranked teams from the continent.
This decision was based on the latest FIFA Rankings released on June 20, 2024.
Ranked fifth in Africa currently, the Super Eagles will join hosts Morocco, Senegal, Algeria, Tunisia, Cote d’Ivoire, Egypt, Ghana, Mali, South Africa, Cameroon, and the Democratic Republic of Congo in Pot 1 for the draw.
The draw process will form 12 groups labeled Group A to L, each comprising four teams. The top two teams from each group (excluding the host Morocco’s group) will qualify for the AFCON 2025 tournament.
Scheduled from December 21, 2025, to January 18, 2026, the AFCON 2025 finals promise to be a highly competitive event, showcasing the top football talent across the African continent.
