Police Apprehend 148 Suspects Including 106 ‘Deadly’ Political Thugs In Clean-Up Operation

The Kano State Police Command has apprehended 148 suspects amongst whom are 106 ‘deadly’ political thugs.

A suspect who allegedly killed a police officer two years ago in Kano is among the suspects arrested by the Command during a clean-up operation, according to the Command Spokesperson, CPS Abdullahi Haruna Kiyawa.

Speaking, Thursday while parading the suspects at the premises of the Command, CPS Kiyawa, noted that the Police remain resolute in ensuring peace and stability fully return to Kano and all criminal elements are taken out.

“The Police in Kano remain resolute in its commitment to combating Thuggery (Daba) and other criminal activities and will spare no efforts in ensuring the Safety and Security of all Residents”, Kiyawa warned.

He said the Police Commissioner, Salman Dogo Garba, would not sit ideally in the office and allow thugs (Yan Daba) to disrupt the peaceful atmosphere being enjoyed in the state.

“The Commissioner led targeted operations to the identified trouble spots within the affected areas resulting in the arrest of 146 suspects among who are 106 deadly thugs causing violence and other dastardly acts resulting in killing and maiming of innocent lives.

Similarly, the PPRO explained that 25 armed robbers, 2 suspected kidnappers, 3 suspected drug dealers, 3 car thieves and 10 other thieves were arrested in the last 10 days of his assumption of office.

Kiyawa disclosed that one pump action, three bows and arrows, 58 knives, cutlasses and pointed rods, including 87 parcels of dried leaves suspected to be Indian Helm were recovered from the suspects.

“The Police would intensify patrols in the affected areas, as they deploy more armed Security Personnel in collaboration with other stakeholders to gather intelligence information against social vices and their perpetrators.
