Drama As Governor Orders Aide To Slap Man During Prayers (Video)

Footage of Niger State Governor, Umaru Mohammed Bago, ordering a security aide to slap an alleged Islamic cleric during the fidau prayers for the late wife of the deputy governor, Zainab Yakubu Garba, at the deputy governor’s residence in Minna has stoked controversy.
In the viral video, Governor Bago was seen clad in a white agbada, flanked by officials, addressing the audience about the young man, who was on his knees. Shortly after, he ordered the man to be slapped and arrested.

According to eyewitness Ibrahim Makama, the Governor had called for an Imam to lead prayers when the young man suddenly jumped out and volunteered to pray. The Governor reprimanded him, saying, “Were you the Imam I called to pray? This is an act of indiscipline; I didn’t call you to pray.” The young man was then asked to kneel before being arrested.
The incident sparked widespread outrage on social media, with many condemning the Governor’s actions and calling for respect for human rights. The incident has raised questions about the use of power and authority, and many are demanding accountability from the Governor.
