23-Year-Old Arrested For Stabbing Mother To Death In Delta State
The Delta State Police Command has arrested a 23-year-old man, identified as Samson, for allegedly stabbing his mother to death in the Obiaruku area.
Information reveals that Samson was initially sent to Asaba, the state capital, to learn a trade after completing secondary school. However, within a few months, he was sent back home after joining a group involved in drugs, which reportedly affected his mental health. Upon his return to Obiaruku, his mother took him to a traditional mental health facility for treatment.
Reports indicate that around 5 a.m., while Samson was smoking, his mother confronted him, leading to a tragic incident where he fatally stabbed her with a knife.
An eyewitness, who requested anonymity, shared details with Vanguard, stating, “They live on Jehovah Street, Obiedike close to my shop. The mother is in her 50s but certainly not up to 60. At around 5 a.m., the mother came outside and saw her son, Samson, smoking. She confronted him, telling him it was too early. Perhaps she shouted at him. Then Samson went inside, brought out a knife, and stabbed his mother. The elder brother, who is a sickle cell patient, was the one who shouted, which made people enter the compound because the gate of the compound was still locked at then.”
Other eyewitnesses in the neighborhood, speaking to Vanguard via phone call, described Samson’s drug addiction since his return from Asaba. They also mentioned that the police arrested Samson while he stood near his mother’s body.
