Adultery: Controversial Nigerian Pastor Rebuffs N5m Court Fine (Video)

On-air personality and controversial online pastor, Daddy Freeze, has expressed his displeasure following a court ruling that slapped a N5m fine on him for alleged adultery with Benedicta Elechi.

GWG.ng reports that a Port-Harcourt High Court had three years ago ordered Daddy Freeze to pay the sum as fine to Paul Odekina, who was married to Elechi when the alleged adultery happened.

Daddy Freeze contested the court’s decision, arguing that Odekina failed to serve him personally before applying for substituted service, violating Order 7 Rule 2 of the Rules of the Trial Court. After three years of legal battles, a Certified True Copy of the judgment, dated June 26, 2024, revealed that the appellate court dismissed Daddy Freeze’s appeal for lack of merit.

The three-person panel of Justice Abubakar Talba, Danlami Senchi, and Hannatu Balogun ruled that Daddy Freeze should have filed a counter-affidavit against the affidavit of service if he wished to overturn the trial court’s judgment.

In response to the ruling, Daddy Freeze took to Instagram Live to express his views. He stated that while he has no issue paying the N5 million fine, asserting that his watch collection alone is worth over N100 million, he insists on his innocence. He recounted that the incident occurred over 12 years ago when both he and Elechi were experiencing significant personal struggles and reconnected years later in a church setting.

“I will pay the N5 million adultery fine; my watches alone cost over N100 million. But I am innocent, and I will not lose. This happened many years ago when I was going through serious torment, and so was the lady. We both connected years later in church,” Daddy Freeze stated.

Despite the court’s ruling, Daddy Freeze remains resolute in maintaining his innocence and plans to continue seeking justice against the adultery fine.
