Anyim Gives Reason For Joining APC

Former Senate President and Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Chief Pius Anyim Pius, officially left the People Democratic Party (PDP) and joined the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) on Saturday.

Alongside him in this defection was Architect Edward Nwkegu, a prominent member of the Labour Party in Ebonyi State. Their announcement on join was made during a major APC rally at the Pa Ngele Oruta Township Stadium in Abakaliki, with their supporters in attendance.

Presenting their resolutions on behalf of the PDP and Labour Party to join APC, Senator Anyim Pius Anyim and Edward Nwkegu called on the people of Ebonyi to continue supporting President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda and Governor Francis Ogbonna Nwifuru.

“This day marks a significant moment in Ebonyi State’s governance. Today, we stand united once again. While this decision is saddening, it is not about me, but about the people of Ebonyi State. We deliberated and reached resolutions prior to this defection,” Anyim stated of his decision to join APC.

“We urge all Ebonyi residents to support the President as he navigates the nation through these challenging times. Our people have decided to back the President and the Minister of Works in enhancing the administration of Bola Tinubu. We call upon all Nigerians to rally behind the President,” Anyim added on his decision to join the APC.
GWG.ng reports that Anyim was a presidential aspirant on the platform of the PDP ahead of the 2023 elections.
