Davido Sparks Controversy With New Social Media App ‘Chatter’
By Benjamin Abioye
Afrobeats singer David Adeleke, widely known as Davido, has caused a stir online with the release of his new social media app, Chatter.
The musician announced the launch on his social media platforms, providing a brief history of the app’s development and functions, which he worked on with a friend.
The award-winning singer stated that the app is co-owned by himself and his longtime friend, Sir Banko. Davido described Chatter as “a social audiovisual utility platform that connects users with a lively community and helps content creators magnify their views.”
He said that the app was designed not only for content creators but also for individuals looking to network and those with business interests.
Over the past eight months, Davido has been involved in three internet projects. Notably, he launched his own cryptocurrency, $DAVIDO coin. However, the coin crashed just days after its release, leading to significant financial losses for many investors. This incident prompted some cryptocurrency enthusiasts to label it as a scam and a rug-pull.
Regardless of the controversy, some still view his new app as an industrious venture, appreciating his efforts to innovate and create new platforms for digital interaction.
