Edo: Ofure-Key, Only Female Candidate Vows To Reduce Poverty

Patience Ofure-Key, the only female candidate in the Edo State governorship contest has made new promises to the electorate

Patience Ofure-Key, the Peoples Redemption Party (PRP) Governorship candidate in the September 21 election in Edo, who is also the only female in the race has promised to implement favourable policies that would reduce poverty if elected into office.

Ofure-Key said this during her campaign tour of Ogua, Ofuwenegbe Ward 5 in Ovia North East, Ukhiri Eresoyen Ward 8, Ikpoba-Okha, and Ore-Oghene, Ward 5 in  Oredo Local Government area of the state.

Ofure-Key, who is the only female candidate in the Edo governorship race, thanked the communities for their support, while reeling out her plans to the people.

‘`We need the right leadership in Edo for good governance and quality health care, particularly to reduce maternal and child mortality,” she said.

She highlighted plans for robust skills acquisition and agricultural programmes that would target self-sufficiency in food production amid secured environment for farmers.

Ofure-Key, a former chairman of Nigerians in the Diaspora, pledged collaboration with the diaspora commission to drive the state development.

She said that her manifesto prioritised impactful changes and empowerment programmes that would combat poverty and foster creativity among the populace.

Reflecting on her anti-human trafficking efforts, Ofure-Key acknowledged the role of stakeholders and the Oba of Benin, Oba Ewuare II, in reducing the scourge in Edo and Nigeria.

According to her, tourism development in my agenda is to leverage cultural heritage for economic growth through global attraction.

Ofure-Key urged Edo people to rally support and vote for PRP, adding that PRP mission, vision and policies supported a business-friendly environment.

The community leaders, Elder Sunday Bazuaye and Comrade Efosa Ada, expressed satisfaction with Ofure-Key’s plans and pledged support for PRP in the upcoming election.

Ofure-Key was accompanied on the tour by her running mate, Ojo Abuomwande, the party chairman, Dr Greg Igbinomwanhia, the state Secretary, Jeffrey Imonmion, and other party members. (NAN)
