N5m Adultery Fine: Judges Under Attack For Freezing Benedicta’s Love
Benedicta Elechi, the wife of media personality Daddy Freeze, has sparked a heated debate on social media after sharing her side of the story in the controversial adultery case and fine.
The Court of Appeal had upheld a N5m fine against Daddy Freeze for depriving her ex-husband, Paul Odekina, of her companionship and causing him injury due to adultery.
However, Benedicta’s revelation that she initiated divorce proceedings 12 years ago due to differing sexual orientations and began her relationship with Daddy Freeze during the prolonged divorce process has drawn sympathy from many Nigerians. They are blaming the judiciary system for taking too long to handle the case, leaving her in limbo for over a decade.
“Twelve years is too long for a divorce case to drag on! The judiciary system needs to be overhauled,” said one commenter. “Why should someone be punished for finding love again when the system failed to expedite the divorce process?” asked another.
Benedicta’s courage in speaking out has earned her widespread support, with many praising her for taking a stand and challenging the status quo. Her story has also sparked a broader conversation about the need for judicial reform in Nigeria.
“What Benedicta went through is a clear example of how our judiciary system fails people, especially women. It’s time for change,” said a social media user.
