The Coalition of Concerned Northern Youths and Students across the 19 Northern states has decided to withdraw from the planned nationwide protest against economic hardship in Nigeria.

Jibril Sani Bello, the Coalition’s National Coordinator, spoke to the press in Kano, urging students across Nigeria to refrain from participating in the protest against hardship.

Bello, who also serves as the Senate President of the National Association of Kano State Students (NAKSS), explained that although plans to join the protest were well advanced, the Coalition decided to pull out due to uncertainties regarding the organizers and the protest’s objectives.

“We understand the economic hardship faced by Nigerians in recent times,” Bello said. “However, past protests have caused setbacks to our academic pursuits, and the current protest lacks clear leadership and defined goals.”

The Coalition’s withdrawal reflects a cautious approach, prioritizing the academic progress and safety of students while acknowledging the widespread economic challenges in the country.

GWG.ng reports that the planned withdrawal from the protest comes in the wake of wise counsel from some sections of the polity that the planned protest against increasing hardship is being stoked by politicians who have lost in their bid for power in Nigeria.
