Driver Escapes As Many Students Die In UNILORIN Bus Accident

Families and loved ones are grieving after a horrific accident occured on Thursday at the University of Ilorin’s (UNILORIN) main gate which resulted in the tragic loss of multiple lives.

According to reports, many passengers of a campus shuttle, known as “Korope,” were confirmed dead, but with the driver sustaining minor injuries, after the deadly accident.

GWG.ng gathered that the accident happened as the students were returning home after their exams.

Eyewitnesses report that the bus was overcrowded, carrying 10 people despite its capacity being limited to 7 passengers. The devastating crash underscores the urgent need for improved safety measures in campus transportation.

Viral pictures online, obtained by GWG.ng provides a graphic and disturbing glimpse into the aftermath of the accident.

The UNILORIN school community is in mourning, with many expressing their grief and shock over the tragic loss of young lives.

GWG.ng learnt that this is not the first time such an accident has occurred at the UNILORIN main gate, raising concerns about recurring safety issues. 

The UNILORIN community and beyond are calling for immediate action to prevent further tragedies.
