Senator Godswill Akpabio has come under fire after opposing a motion sponsored by Senator Ireti Kingibe on rebuilding the recently razed Karu, Abuja market

In a Senate session, Senator Natasha Akpoti of Kogi Central passionately voiced her support for a motion raised by Senator Ireti Kingibe on the reconstruction of the Karu market, which was recently destroyed by fire despite the opposition of same by Senate President Godswill Akpabio.

Akpabio had said that government funds should not be used for the Karu Marketject.

The narration began with Senator Ireti Kingibe advocating on behalf of the Karu community, urging the government to assist in rebuilding the vital market. She emphasized the market’s importance to the local economy and the livelihoods of many residents.

Senate President Akpabio responded by stating that government funds could not be allocated for the reconstruction, implying that such an expenditure was beyond the government’s purview.

Senator Natasha Nkpokiti, representing Kogi Central, stood in support of Senator Ireti’s plea.

“Why should the government say it can’t rebuild the burnt market for the people? The people own both the government and the money,” Senator Apokiti asserted, highlighting the duty of the government to serve its citizens and ensure their welfare.

@oparauche: U won’t use government money to help the people, then who is the government?

@promisezeal: The same way Judas objected to a woman pouring an expensive perfume on Jesus advicing that the money be saved to help the poor. But only so he could steal from it later.

@oshe_okpamen: So who does Akpabio think government money belongs to? Chai Nigeria who cursed you 💔?
