Popular Actress Ponders Japa After Spending N150k On Food Stuff (Video)

Nollywood actress Nkechi Blessing Sunday has voiced her frustration over the skyrocketing prices of basic food items at the Sunday market in Ogba. In an Instagram post, the actress revealed that she spent N150,000 on a few essentials.

Detailing her shopping experience, Nkechi Blessing noted that she purchased 2 kilos of turkey, catfish, live chicken, goat meat, and a yam for N1,000. She questioned the current state of the economy, wondering if Nigerians had become complacent with the hardship.

“So I carried N150k to the market to buy basic things – Turkey 2 kilos, catfish, live chicken, and goat meat. Guess what? N1,000 didn’t return home with me. One yam is N1,000 now. I noticed that people aren’t talking about the economy anymore; it’s like you guys enjoy it. I am not rich, so I will complain. Besides, even the rich are complaining. I am not the rich but one of the masses, and I am complaining like this.”

Expressing her frustration, the actress hinted at the possibility of leaving the country. “It’s time to dust my passport because it is no longer getting funny.”

This sentiment echoes the experiences of other celebrities. Last month, actress Uche Elendu lamented the price of a crate of eggs, which had risen to N6,000 in her area. She criticized the government, doubting the authenticity of the eggs’ origins.

Similarly, Yoruba actress Yewande Adekola Abiodun expressed her dismay over the price of a bag of garri, now being sold for N80,000. She recalled how garri, once considered a poor man’s food, had become prohibitively expensive.

During the festive period last year, actress Mary Njoku also cried out over the economic hardship, sharing that she spent N100,000 at the supermarket, yet her trolley was far from full.

As the cost of living continues to rise, Nkechi Blessing Sunday’s experience highlights the ongoing struggle many Nigerians face in affording basic necessities.
