Rivers: Labour Party Debunks Reports Claiming Hilda Dokubo Was Suspended

The chairman, caretaker committee of Labour Party in Asari Toru Local Government Area, Horsfall Mac-Jay, has declared as false, reports making the rounds that its chairperson, Hilda Dokubo was suspended.

Mac-Jay who made this known in a statement, maintained that Hilda Dokubo remains the party chairman and asked the public to disregard the purported claim.

The statement which Hilda Dokubo also posted on her Instagram page read, “It has just been brought to our attention that some agents of acrimony came up with an unfounded claim that our state chairman has been suspended by some phantom element who are alien to our party membership register in Asari Toru.

“We want to call on the general public to disregard the purported claim as Madam Hilda Dokubo is a person of high reputation and strong character, a … defender of interest of the Asari Toru. Hence no true son/daughter Asari Toru extraction can take such cowardly move.

“Hilda Dokubo remains our party chairman and she has support in Ward 3 and Asari Toru LGA in general.”

While maintaining that there is no truth in the news making the rounds that she was suspended by her ward for financial mishandling, she disclosed that she has no dealings with the finances of the party.

She said, “Let me start by stating unequivocally that even at the state level I have no dealings with the financials of our dear party, the labour party of nigeria, let alone at the ward level where I am only a member. the party at both levels have financial secretaries and treasurers and i am neither.

“I am however not ignorant of the cheap attempt to distract the unsuspecting public, and lovers of the Labour Party from the battles we have had to deal with,” she said.
