Yul Edochie Faces Backlash Over Protest Advice

Nigerian actor Yul Edochie has come under fire following his advice to Nigerians, urging them not to protest against the ongoing economic hardships in the country. This comes amidst speculations of a nationwide protest reportedly scheduled for July 29.

On July 19, 2024, the controversial actor took to Instagram to address the issue. Edochie acknowledged the severe hardships faced by many but advised against protesting, citing potential negative outcomes.

“I acknowledge the hardships. Protest is not the answer. People take advantage of protests to break into other people’s shops, steal, destroy properties, hurt and kill innocent Nigerians who are already going through a lot. In the end, the aim of the protest will be defeated. Remember what happened during End Sars,” Edochie stated.

Yul Edochie continued, “Protest is not the answer. Let’s be patient. Let’s keep speaking out and doing all we can to help out. President Tinubu listens and he’s doing all he can to make things right. Fellow Nigerians, let’s be patient.”

Edochie’s advice was met with widespread criticism from his followers and other Instagram users, who disapproved of his stance and expressed their frustration over his comments. Many argued that protest is a vital means for citizens to express their grievances and demand change as against the injunctions of Yul Edochie.
