Secondary School Graduation: Stepmother Damns Critics After SUV Gift To Lawmaker’s Daughter

One of the wives of Yusuf Gagdi, a member of the House of Representatives, Layla Ali Othman, has launched a vicious attack on critics who condemned her husband’s gift of a brand new Sport Utility Vehicle, SUV as a graduation gift to their daughter.

Othman, a businesswoman spoke in the wake of controversies that trailed the grand gesture from the lawmaker to his daughter in the social media space.

Layla, who is one of the wives of Yusuf Gagdi, was particularly furious over what she described as the misinformation that was contained in the criticisms of those who opposed the gesture.

GWG.ng reports that the criticisms were especially fueled by insinuations that it came at a time that many Nigerians were passing through very difficult times and amid opulent provisions for the lawmakers.

Layla, however, argued that they didn’t buy the car with constituency money or funds allocated for their people. 

She wrote via her Facebook page, “If you want to give information, you should get your facts right. It’s a 2021 model. And yes, it’s equally expensive, and yes, we are proud of our child as she did very well in school,” she wrote. 

“And yes, we bought her a car because we can afford it. But no, the car wasn’t bought with constituency money or any government allocated funds for the people. If you don’t believe, kindly argue with your ancestors.”
