Chris Brown And Live Nation Hit With $50m Lawsuit Over Alleged Backstage Assault

American R&B star Chris Brown and promoter Live Nation are facing a $50 million lawsuit filed by four concertgoers. The lawsuit alleges that Brown and several members of his entourage “brutally and severely beat” the plaintiffs following a performance.

The lawsuit, filed in Harris County, Texas, on Monday, names Larry Parker, Joseph Lewis, Charles Bush, and Da Marcus Powell as the plaintiffs. They claim they were invited backstage at Brown’s show on Friday at Dickies Arena in Fort Worth, Texas, which was part of his ongoing 11:11 Tour.

According to the complaint, before leaving the venue, Brown was reminded by one of his entourage members about a previous dispute with Bush. Brown allegedly responded, “Oh yeah, we were. What’s up, n****? I don’t forget shit.” The filing asserts that Brown and seven to ten members of his entourage then followed Bush into a hallway and began assaulting him and his companions.

The lawsuit further alleges that Parker was trapped in a stairwell where he was punched, kicked, and stomped on for ten minutes. The plaintiffs are receiving medical treatment and will require further care in the future.

Live Nation, which is promoting Brown’s tour, is accused of failing to ensure the safety of concertgoers around Brown. Plaintiffs’ attorney Tony Buzbee criticized this, stating, “No should have to endure what these clients endured.” He added that they will seek the maximum damages allowed by law for what he called “egregious conduct.”

In a statement on Instagram, Buzbee noted, “Chris Brown has a long history of violence.” This includes a 2009 incident where Brown pleaded guilty to assaulting his then-girlfriend, Rihanna. Since then, he has faced multiple assault allegations from ex-girlfriends and acquaintances.

In June 2017, a restraining order was issued against Brown by his ex-girlfriend Karrueche Tran, who alleged that he had sent her violent threats. In January 2022, Brown was sued for $20 million by a woman who claimed he drugged and raped her on a yacht at rapper Diddy’s Star Island estate in Florida. However, the case was dismissed in August 2022 due to a “lack of prosecution.”
