Backlash For Shettima After Crediting Tinubu With 1m New Jobs
Vice President Kashim Shettima is facing significant backlash after claiming that the Federal Government has generated over 300,000 businesses and created one million job opportunities within a year through various Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) interventions
Shettima has announced that the Federal Government has generated over 300,000 businesses through Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) interventions, creating one million job opportunities, primarily for youths and women, within a year.
During a working visit to Jigawa State on Tuesday, the vice president highlighted President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda aimed at tackling poverty and creating jobs by supporting medium and small-scale businesses. He emphasized that these businesses constitute over 65% of investments and employ 83% of labor in Nigeria.
However, the claim by Shettima was met with a backlash and widespread skepticism from Nigerians, who took to the comment section to express their disbelief. Many questioned the validity of the vice president’s statements, asking where and who benefited from the claimed job creation.
How the backlash against Shettima came;

The backlash highlights the growing distrust between the government and citizens, with many Nigerians feeling that the administration’s efforts have not translated into tangible improvements in their lives. As the government continues to implement policies and programs aimed at improving the social and economic lives of Nigerians, it remains to be seen whether their efforts will yield tangible results and restore public trust.
