Falana Accuses FG of Inciting Violence During #EndSARS Protests, Warns Against Repeat (Video)
Senior Advocate of Nigeria and renowned human rights lawyer, Femi Falana, has accused the Nigerian government of inciting violence against #EndSARS protesters in 2020.
During an appearance on Channels TV on Tuesday evening, Falana warned the government against employing similar tactics as citizens prepare for another wave of protests in August.
Falana asserted, “The violence that marked the end of the #EndSARS protest was instigated, fueled, and sponsored by the government. The government unleashed hoodlums and thugs on the young people. When that did not work, the government sent troops and soldiers to engage in the killing of young people.”
With nationwide demonstrations planned for August, driven by economic hardships and soaring food prices, Falana urged the government to engage with the movement’s leaders and address their demands rather than resorting to violence.
He also called on the 36 state governors to outline their plans to alleviate citizens’ suffering amid the rising cost of living. “Between now and the first of August is still a long way, and I understand the government is going to address the nation. It is also important for governors to come out and let the people know what they are doing to address the hardship in the country, which nobody is denying,” Falana said.

The rising food prices have intensified scrutiny of President Bola Tinubu’s economic policies both domestically and internationally, as citizens look to their leaders for solutions to the ongoing crisis.
