Uncertainties have trailed the removal of expatriates at Herbert Wigwe University, belonging to the late group MD and CEO of Access Bank, Herbert Wigwe.

Alex Onyia, the CEO of Educare, who disclosed the information via his official X handle, @winexviv, expressed fears that Herbert Wigwe University is about to be turned into an ordinary Nigerian University, as the University recently removed its foreign Vice Chancellor and Deputy Vice Chancellor, which was not the original dream of Wigwe.

Onyia wrote, “We are about to lose Herbert Wigwe twice. The current governing council of Wigwe University has removed all the expatriates. This includes the VC and all the Deputy Vice Chancellors. They now want to turn it into ordinary Nigerian university.

“This is not Herbert Wigwe’s dream for this university and this must never happen. The goal is to be the Ivy League Standard University. All the team members that worked closely with Herbert Wigwe to build this fearless vision has been removed by the governing council.

“We can’t loose Herbert Wigwe twice. This is his biggest dream he has and we should never let it die.”

Explaining possible reasons for the development at the University, Onyia said, “They claimed funding is one of their issues. Yes Prof. Ajogwu is still the chairman. They completely don’t understand the vision.

“The funding source which is the HOW foundation also needs to be thoroughly investigated. How I wish Herbert never left!”
