Family Demands Probe As Wigwe University Registrar Dies After Medical Mishap

The Registrar of Wigwe University, Ulonna Inyama, has passed away after reportedly succumbing to complications from a surgical procedure in Abuja.

She reportedly died on Saturday in an Abuja hospital.

According to a family source, Inyama experienced a fatal reaction after receiving the incorrect blood type. The source explained, “We were told that a wrong blood transfusion led to her death after losing blood due to fibroid complications. She was later referred to another hospital where she passed on due to a worsening condition from the complications.”

The family is calling for an investigation into the circumstances surrounding her death to ensure accountability and prevent similar incidents in the future.

Before her role at Wigwe University, Inyama served as chief personnel officer and head of strategic communications/special duties in the office of the executive secretary at the National Universities Commission (NUC).

This incident has raised concerns about the quality of medical care and safety protocols in Nigeria.

GWG.ng reports that the death of the Wigwe University registrar came just a few months after the tragic passing of the founder of the university, Herbert Wigwe, who died in a helicopter crash in the USA along with his wife and son.
