Nollywood actor turned politician, Kenneth Okonkwo, has stirred up the political scene with his statements urging Peter Obi and Atiku Abubakar to step down from the presidential race in 2027

In an interview with Seun Okinbaloye, Kenneth Okonkwo, a vocal critic of the current administration, made a startling statement, urging Peter Obi and Atiku Abubakar to step aside from the presidential race in 2027.

Okonkwo’s comments come amidst growing tensions ahead of the planned nationwide protest on August 1.

The actor-turned-politician also lambasted President Bola Tinubu and Senate President Godswill Akpabio for allegedly sponsoring counter-protests against the upcoming demonstration. He accused them of hypocrisy, saying they claimed to not believe in protests but were secretly funding them.

Kennett Okonkwo also declared that Obi, Atiku, and Tinubu are no longer qualified to hold the office of President. He stated that Obi was more qualified during the 2023 general election but has since lost his eligibility. However, he failed to mention who he believes is more qualified to lead the country.

This statement comes after Kenneth Okonkwo withdrew support for Peter Obi, citing disagreements with his leadership style.

Despite not joining the APC or PDP, Okonkwo has made it clear that he no longer backs Obi, the 2023 presidential candidate.

Okonkwo’s comments have sparked a heated debate, with many Nigerians weighing in on the issue. As the country prepares for the upcoming protest, Okonkwo’s call for new leadership has added fuel to the fire, underlining the growing demand for change and accountability in Nigeria’s political landscape.
