Controversy was on Friday shadowing the fate of former federal lawmaker and commissioner in Delta State, Hon Joan Mrakpor Onyemaechi following her kidnap on Tuesday evening.

GWG.ng reports that a leading online newspaper had reported that she was murdered by her kidnappers and her body dumped at Onitsha head bridge.

However, the police have denied the claim saying that there was no evidence as to her possible murder.

Mrakpor was seized by her abductors and her police orderly killed following which they transported her in a boat across the River Niger. No word has been heard about her since then.

GWG.ng reports that Mrakpor who was married to the former Attorney General of the state in the Senator Ifeanyi Okowa regime served different terms in the State House of Assembly before proceeding to the House of Representatives before being appointed a commissioner in the present government.

She recently resigned ahead of the Local Government elections conducted in Delta State last month.

She had also served as the administrator of the Asaba Metropolitan Capital City Authority and is arguably one of the top political actors in Delta State.

GWG.ng reports that Governor Sheriff Oborevwori is deeply engaged in the process to recover his former appointee from her abductors.
