Protesters Block Governor Fubara’s Convoy

Protesters in Port Harcourt, Rivers State, temporarily blocked Governor Siminalayi Fubara’s convoy on Saturday, demanding that he step out and address them.

This happened on the third day of the #EndBadGovernance demonstrations.

Governor Fubara’s convoy had encountered a crowd of #EndBadGovernance protesters at Rumuobiakani Roundabout at the intersection of Trans Amadi Industrial Layout in Obio/Akpor Local Government Area, where the peaceful protesters cheered and chanted songs, praising Governor Fubara for his people-centric policies.

Waving green leaves and chanting: “Our Governor, carry go”, “Our Governor, we are solidly behind you and your government”, the peaceful protesters swiftly cleared one lane of the dual-carriage way for easy passage of the Governor’s convoy, amid excitements and jubilation.

In response, the Governor waved at them in appreciation of their peaceful conduct and disposition, amid tight police presence to protect the people.

GWG.ng reports that the protesters have been gathering in Port Harcourt Since August 1, 2024, and on Saturday converged on Pleasure Park.

Saturday’s protests in the Rivers State capital were peaceful, with security operatives present to maintain order.

Like Port-Harcourt, GWG.ng reports that the protests also took place in Abuja, Ojota, Lagos among other places.
