Famous Nigerian DJ and activist, Obianuju Catherine, widely known as DJ Switch, has taken a stand against Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Minister Nyesom Wike and former Niger Delta militant leader Asari Dokubo amid the ongoing nationwide hunger protests.

The 10-day protest, titled ‘EndBadGovernance’, began on August 1, 2024, and is focused on Nigeria’s severe economic challenges.

Prior to the demonstrations, Asari Dokubo had warned the organizers against bringing the protests to his region, asserting that their agenda did not address local issues. Similarly, FCT Minister Nyesom Wike had threatened to make Abuja inaccessible for the protest.

During a meeting with the security council on the first day of the protests, Wike mentioned intelligence reports suggesting that protesters planned to destroy property. In response, DJ Switch, a prominent figure from the 2020 EndSARS protests, challenged both Dokubo and Wike to confront the protesters publicly if they were not afraid.

In a social media post, DJ Switch emphasized that the true remedy for hunger is food, not violence or threats. DJ Switch criticized both Dokubo and Wike, stating, “The only thing that can stop HUNGER is FOOD! Not guns, teargas, or threats from fat globs like Asari Dokubo and chicken feed Wike! I wonder why they are hiding now. Come outside let them eat you raw,” her tweet declared.
