Doubts Surge Over Bobrisky’s Stay In Prison As He Glows (Video)
By Benjamin Abioye
Controversial cross-dresser Idris Okuneye, known as Bobrisky, has been released from the Kirikiri Correctional Centre in Lagos State after serving six months in prison for Naira abuse. His release on Monday morning has generated significant reactions on social media.
In a video posted on X, Bobrisky was seen greeting his fans who came out to welcome him. He took the opportunity to advise Nigerians on the importance of respecting the Naira. “You have to follow the rules and abide by the laws. Don’t spray money, or you will become a landlord in Kirikiri,” he said. “It is not just about killing or any criminal activity that can bring you to prison. Something light as spraying of Naira can take you there.”
Bobrisky’s comments reflect his belief that the punishment he received should serve as a lesson to others.
GWG.ng reported that Justice Abimbola Awogboro of the Federal High Court in Lagos sentenced him without an option of a fine, aiming to set an example for those who misuse the currency.
Following his release, social media users shared a variety of reactions:
@toolzmoney: “Bobrisky after finally regaining his freedom. Una sure say this guy go prison??”
@OloriSupergal: “Bobrisky aka Mummy of Laygurrrrrrsssss is back!!!!”
@iamaleshinloye1: “Congratulations to all Nigerians.”
@peace_igho: “See as Bobrisky dey glow. Abi make I go prison??”
@ehime24: “Deep in our hearts, we all know Bobrisky did not go to prison……Omo get money OOO, make prison no be like a vacation.”
@ChiomaChuka: “A reminder that Bobrisky’s incarceration was unjust, heavy-handed, and can be described as targeted. There are several videos of politicians, their families, & politically exposed persons spraying naira; NONE of them have been arrested or jailed. A bad thing is a bad thing.”
@_theladymo: “Bobrisky looks really fresh out of prison, be like say all of us go enter prison o.”
@TheSilvapr: “Na prison this one go so?”
@localwerey: “Did Bobrisky go to the Bahamas for vacation? She does not look like someone who just came out of prison.😂 Lagos is no longer motherless!😂🔥”
Bobrisky expressed his gratitude to friends and supporters, saying, “I’m only focusing my good energy right now on people who were there for me, like my friends. You see, any other person, I’m not interested. So, I don’t want to talk about them. I’m really grateful to my friends and loved ones.”
His release and subsequent comments continue to stir debate and highlight ongoing issues related to the enforcement of laws concerning currency abuse.
