Man In Shock As Girlfriend Marries Another Man After Sponsoring Her Varsity Education

A Nigerian man is heartbroken after discovering that his girlfriend, whom he had sponsored through university, married another man just two months before their planned wedding introduction.

The story was shared by a netizen, @afrisagacity, on the microblogging platform X.

According to @afrisagacity, the man met his girlfriend during his early university days at the University of Nigeria, Nsukka (UNN) in 2011. He worked as a photocopy machine operator at the campus to make ends meet. The man recounted that he had sponsored his girlfriend’s education at Anambra State University, footing all her bills from her first year to her final year.

The man’s troubles began when his girlfriend’s attitude changed during her final year. She stopped taking his calls and only called him back after several days. Eventually, he learned that she had gotten married in October, ahead of their planned wedding introduction in December.

In the shared account, @afrisagacity detailed how the heartbroken Nigerian man met his girlfriend at a photocopy stand at UNN. The man had taken on the responsibility of sponsoring her education after she gained admission to study at Anambra State University. He paid for her tuition, provided a monthly allowance, and covered other expenses. Despite not having a formal education himself, he wanted a graduate wife.

The couple had planned to marry after she completed her Higher National Diploma (HND). However, her attitude changed, and she became distant. In December, the man received a call from his girlfriend, who thanked him for all he had done and then informed him that she had been engaged to another man since October and was getting married that month.

The heartbroken man was devastated and traveled home, only to find a wedding invitation from his girlfriend. When he confronted her, she offered to have her new husband reimburse him for the money he had spent on her education. Heartbroken and angry, he walked away and never contacted her again.
