Wike Residence Protesters

Nyesom Wike is the latest political actor to be personally attacked by EndHunger protesters following the attack on his private residence in Port Harcourt.

The #EndBadGovernanceInNigeria protesters have attacked the private residence of the former Governor of Rivers’ state, Nyesom Wike.

GWG.ng reports that this development is coming on Day 6 of the nationwide protests against hunger, just after President Bola Tinubu appealed to protesters to suspend the protests.

Wike, who is also the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) minister, had vehemently kicked against the protest in the Nigerian capital.

While the protests seem to have died down in the FCT, the street processions picked up in Port Harcourt on Tuesday as protesters approached the private residence of Wike in Port Harcourt.

A viral video on social media captured a huge crowd of protesters singing the national anthem as they laid siege to the former governor’s residence in the state capital.

However, in swift response, the Nigerian Police Force deployed additional personnel to the area to maintain order and ensure the safety of all parties involved.

GWG.ng earlier reported that the protesters stormed the Government House on the first day of the protests where they publicly embarrassed Governor Sim Fubara who tried to give them money for ‘pure water.’

Wike is yet to respond to the attack.
