Olympics: Tobi Amusan Makes Strong Finish In Women’s 100m Hurdle Heat (Video)

Nigerian female athlete, Tobi Amusan, has finished first in the Women’s 100m Hurdle Heat, at the ongoing 2024 Olympics in Paris, France.

GWG.ng reports that Amusa ran 12.49s to win Heat 1 on Wednesday morning.

United States, Alaysha Johnson finished 2nd with a time of 12.61s while Jamaica’s Janeek Brown came 3rd with a time of 12.84s

The world record holder has now qualified for the semi-finals of women’s 100m Hurdles at the Paris 2024 Olympics.

Dispirited after finishing fourth in the Tokyo Olympics, 25-year-old Tobi Amusan produced one of the outstanding performances at the World Championships in Eugene, winning the 100 metres hurdles gold medal and breaking the world record in the semi-final with a time of 12.12 secs. She became the first Nigerian world champion and world record holder in an athletics event. She also won gold medals in the 100m hurdles and the 4 x 100m relay at the Commonwealth Games.

Tobi Amusan is one of Nigeria’s medal prospects at the Olympic games and will be looking to boost the chances of adding to the country’s tally in her third appearance at the multi-sport event using the 100m hurdle.
