Regina Daniels Fires Back At Critics Over Protest Comments (Video)
Nollywood actress and senator’s wife Regina Daniels has responded to the backlash she received for her comments on the action of protesters against bad governance and hunger.
Last week, Daniels faced criticism for speaking out against violence during the protests, with many accusing her of being out of touch due to her privileged position as a billionaire politician’s wife.
In a new Instagram post, Daniels clarified that her intention was not to seek approval or affection but to highlight the struggles of her staff, including nannies, gatemen, and cooks, who are affected by the country’s insecurity and economic challenges.
Daniels emphasized that Nigeria’s problems cannot be solved overnight or by one person, urging collective responsibility and peaceful engagement.
GWG.ng reports that the backlash against Regina Daniels by the protesters and others was against the background of assertions that members of the political class were out of reach of the pains of the ordinary Nigerians and even more that the National Assembly leaders had helped in contributing to the #bad governance that Nigerians are kicking against.
Meanwhile, fellow actress Tonto Dikeh also faced criticism for supporting President Tinubu and advising protesters to act wisely.
Dikeh had suggested establishing a representative group to meet with the President, sparking debate about the effectiveness of protests.
